Deborah Brautigam

Dr. Deborah Bräutigam has been writing about China, Africa, state-building, governance and foreign aid for almost 30 years. Currently Professor of International Development at American University’s School of International Service, she has also held faculty appointments at  many other institutes and universities around the world. Dr. Bräutigam received her Master's and PhD from Tufts University, and is curerntly a professor at the School of International Service at American University in Washington, D.C. She is an expert in Sino-African relations, aid, and development, and the author of The Dragon's Gift: The Real Story of China in Africa (2009) and Chinese Aid and African Development: Exporting the Green Revolution (2008). The China in Africa website will feature relevant updates from Bräutigam’s blog,   www.chinaafricarealstory.com, which examines the "myths and realities" embedded in media coverage of China-Africa relations.
